Root Word is built by one person. Replies usually arrive within 2–3 business days.
Root Word stores all progress locally on your device. There is no account and no cloud sync, so progress does not automatically move to a new device or restore after uninstall. If this is something you'd like to see, please email us — it helps us prioritise.
Uninstalling Root Word removes all data on your device. The app also writes a small anonymous record to our server each time you reach a tree-planting milestone (see the privacy policy for details). To have those records deleted, email us with the anonymous identifier shown in the app's Settings screen.
Light, occasional ads keep Root Word free and help fund our real-tree planting commitment. If you're in the EU, UK, or Switzerland you can change your ad consent any time via Settings → "Ad Preferences." On iOS you can also revoke tracking permission in your device's Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
A one-time "Remove Ads" purchase is available in the app under Settings → "Remove ads." It permanently removes interruption ads; the optional bonus videos (like Double Growth XP) remain available and are always your choice. If you've already purchased and ads are still showing — for example after reinstalling or switching devices — open Settings → "Remove ads" → "Restore Purchases" while signed into the same App Store or Google Play account you bought with.
Decline the notification prompt on first launch, or revoke it any time in your device's system Settings → Notifications → Root Word.

If you spot a definition or clue that seems off, send us the word and the puzzle theme — we maintain the word list and fix these as we hear about them.
A fresh daily puzzle is available every morning, based on your device's local time. If a new day's puzzle hasn't appeared, try closing and reopening the app.
Root Word launched in English first. Additional languages may come in a future update — drop us a line if there's one you'd love to see.
